Co-founder, CEO & CIO
Between 1995 and 2009, Emília provided training and consulting services in quantitative financial engineering at leading financial institutions in London, Paris, New York, Frankfurt, Zurich, Singapore, Tokyo, Budapest, Istanbul, Madrid, and Lisbon. She focused on advanced yield curve modeling, credit risk analysis,Value at Risk modelling and the analysis of structured products.
Between 1995 and 1998 she worked with UBS evaluating companies and preparing public sales offerings in London, Zurich, and New York.
Emília led,coordinated, and taught advanced financial courses at the Instituto Mercado de Capitais and the Bolsa de Derivados in Porto between 1995 and 1997. In 1997 she joined the academic body of the Catholic University in Porto where she helped launch the university’s first Masters in Finance. She became the director of the programme where she taught Advanced Financial Analytical Methods.
Emilia was a board member at Banco Português do Atlântico between 1989 and 1994.
Emília earned her bachelor’s degree in Management at the University of Minho in 1991 and her Masters in Finance at the University of Lancaster in 1995. Her thesis in Advanced Yield Curve Modelling was considered an “Outstanding Piece of Research”.
Emília writes regularly about investing. She has written over 200 articles for Jornal Expresso, Forbes Magazine, Exame, Jornal Económico, Vida Económica. She is a regular participant in talks and events about investing and a strong advocate for improving financial literacy in Portugal.
Hobbies: education and planting trees.
